President's Message

November 9, 2009

I hope that this communication finds all of you well. It was only several weeks ago that we successfully concluded our annual Fall Conference, entering into our 31st year as an association. Despite the economic challenges, the overall climate of the conference was indicative of a greater sense of operational diligence and creative / strategic business planning as organizations and providers from all over the country were networking. Thank you to our Board of Directors, our Conference Committee, NARA Central, our Pre-Conference Speaker, Mr. Rick Gawenda, and to all of you who have participated in making it another inspiring and meaningful educational and networking event.

As an association that is focused on the business elements of successful rehab practices and providers, we continue to be mindful and focused on the value of the communication and resources that we provide to our membership. Therefore, we continue to consider ways in which we can more efficiently network and provide information without increasing the cost of membership. This is even more so important and timely as several months ago we accepted the decision of our Executive Director and management group, Melissa Cohn, OTR and The Dynamic Group, to focus on the operations and expansion of their reputable “e-learning” business. Subsequently, this has resulted in the transition out of providing NARA with central operational support. Having said that, there is no amount / format of communication that can give justice to the profound impact of the efforts and passion that Melissa Cohn, and later her staff, has provided to NARA for well over 20 years. On behalf of the Board of Directors I would like to express our sincere appreciation to Melissa for her contributions and look forward to recognizing her further at our next conference in the Spring of 2010.

In preparation for the transition we’ve done the following:

1. Recently relocated NARA Central back to Washington D.C.
2. Redesigned and enhanced the functionality of our web-site (www.naranet.org).
3. Established a 24 hour / 7 day weekly Live Call Center for membership needs.

Please note the following new contact information for our association and again, thank you to Melissa Cohn and The Dynamic Group for a job well done over the past several years. As your association, we continue our commitment in serving and supporting you as efficiently as possible as you navigate your business thru these challenging times.

Sincerely,

Gregg J. Altobella, MS CCC-SLP
