Rehabilitation Agency Accreditation Program Now Accepting Inquiries & Applications

A new program of accreditation and inspection has been developed to meet the need of Rehabilitation Agencies to help improve the quality of patient care in this under-served segment of health care in the United States. The Rehabilitation Agency Accreditation Program has been initiated by and is a division of the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. (AAAASF). Visit www.raaccreditation.org to register for a complete set of requirements and application download that is available now.

  • RA Accreditation is a Medicare deemed program that AAAASF is in process of obtaining. In order to achieve deemed status for the RA program, AAAASF must submit to CMS evidence that there is a need for the program. CMS requires that AAAASF have trained surveyors and accredited facilities in 5 separate states before submitting their application to CMS for deemed status. Once the minimum number of facilities has been surveyed, all applications for RA accreditation will be put on a waiting list on a first come, first serve basis. When deemed status is granted, the survey process will begin in the order the applications were received.
  • RA accreditation web site www.raacreditation.org now has the accreditation application and standards posted. You must register as a guest (no obligation) to access the application materials, fee schedule and standards. After you register, you will receive an email with contact information to communicate with the central office staff.
  • Value added-RA accreditation is a user friendly program with staff ready to answer any questions you may have regarding the accreditation process and standards. Staff is eager to assist you before, during and after you submit your application all the way to successfully achieving accreditation and beyond. Accreditation is interactive and you will be kept up to date on the latest changes in CMS regulations and other useful information through the web site and newsletters.
  • NARA members receive 10% discount on annual accreditation fees. (This discount does not apply to on site inspection fee)
  • AAAASF has a money back guarantee that if for any reason deemed status is not granted to AAAASF for the RA accreditation program, the facility will receive a full refund. We believe that deemed status will be granted however we understand that there is a financial commitment on the part of the facility that should be protected.

AAAASF is considered the gold standard in accreditation and has held CMS deemed status for the ASC program since 1999. A trusted leader in accreditation within the medical community, the mission of AAAASF is patient safety and quality care across all programs served by the association.

AAAASF is working to achieve deemed status with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).  As part of the application for deemed status, AAAASF must have a fully operational program in place and be accrediting rehabilitation agencies before the application can be processed.

AAAASF has been accrediting office-based surgery facilities and ambulatory surgery centers since 1980. AAAASF has inspected and accredited an array of surgery facilities using a nationally recognized set of standards that are considered the Gold Standard in the industry. This concept has been expanded to rehabilitation agencies and will help establish a peer-to-peer accreditation program that mirrors our past efforts in the ambulatory surgery environment.
