March 31, 2014 Last week, the House passed a Doc Fix (SGR) Bill by voice vote on Thursday, March 27th. The bill, Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014, would prevent the 24% cut to the Physician Fee Schedule and replace it with a 0.5% conversion factor through December 31, 2014 and a 0.0% update from January 1, 2015 through March 31, 2015. Just now the Senate also passed this legislation and it will go to the President for his signature. What this means:
- Physician Fee Schedule cut of 24% is delayed till March 31, 2015
- Therapy Cap Exceptions Process (KX modifier) would be extended through March 31, 2015
- ICD-10 delayed till October 1, 2015
- CMS will not need to hold claims effective with dates of service April 1, 2014
